      Heterotopic gastric mucosa in the esophagus, the so-called “inlet patch,” is relatively common at endoscopy.

      in 1805, various reports have been published. Available data concerning its incidence are inconsistent, varying from 0.1% up to 10%.

      Incidence of heterotopic the upper oesophagus.
      The usual endoscopic appearance is a salmon-rose-colored mucosal patch with a sharp border or edge in the esophagus. Although the malignant potential is thought to be extremely low, there are nevertheless several reports of adenocarcinoma arising in heterotopic gastric mucosa.
