Image-enhanced endoscopies (IEEs), including topical dyes,

allow for various analyses of GI lesions, such as the analysis of minute structures
and epithelial capillaries on the mucosal surface, and the intensity of fluorescence
emitted from intestinal tissues. These novel technologies provide attractive alternatives
for identifying the abnormalities in the size, density, and shape of crypts and vessels
in either the normal intestine or a tumor lesion.Abbreviations:
