VideoGIE – Launch!

Welcome to Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. With the August 2013 issue, we are introducing a new PubMed-referenced section: VideoGIE.
The VideoGIE section, under the stewardship of a highly experienced Video Editorial Board, will provide GIE readers with high-quality videos of endoscopic procedures, along with histopathologic or radiologic images, that will tell a complete short story, demonstrating new endoscopic techniques that will push the envelope as well as classic endoscopic techniques that will perfect the art for better care of patients during the day-to-day practice. You will also see demonstrations of equipment setup and operation to facilitate smooth operation, along with educational material for the patients. We hope that VideoGIE will be invaluable to seasoned endoscopists as well as junior endoscopists, trainees, endoscopy assistants, and patients. Remember that the articles and videos can be accessed on a mobile device from anywhere in the world!
The American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy has a great legacy in video education for nearly two decades, hosting the ASGE VIDEO FORUM and WORLD CUP of ENDOSCOPY at Digestive Disease Week, producing excellent educational DVDs by the LEARNING CENTER, conducting hands-on training in the art of video editing production for advanced endoscopy trainees, and developing the GIE media section a decade ago under the leadership of Dr George Triadafilopoulos. We now go to the next step: VideoGIE as a PubMed-referenced section in GIE. We hope it serves as an outlet to endoscopists across the globe to showcase their talent and share their wisdom to improve the quality of endoscopy care of patients.
We encourage you to consider submitting your videos to this section. We anticipate that this part of GIE will grow quickly because endoscopic video is an integral part of our daily practices, research, and scholarly efforts. In preparation for this section we have assembled a first-rate Video Editorial Board and two stellar section editors, Dr G.S. Raju and Dr Todd Baron. Please contact us at GIE if you have questions, suggestions, or feedback.
      Thank you.
