217 Per Oral Endoscopic Myotomy (POEM) for Achalasia: Long-Term Outcomes Beyond 2 Years From a Large Prospective Single-Center Us Series

      POEM represents a major advance in achalasia therapy. Nevertheless, given the rarity of achalasia, there is dearth of high quality long-term data. In 2009 we performed the 1st POEM outside Japan and currently have the highest single operator volume in the US. As such our center is now in a position to offer long-term data from a large cohort of patients. Furthermore, despite the fact that 38% of our patients are out-of-state, we have been able to collect objective data from a large number of pts to supplement commonly used subjective scores (Eckardt, GERD).
