My one and only eye (still the one)

      I was very excited during that long pilgrimage from Caracas, Venezuela to San Diego on the west coast of the United States on that month of May 2008. I was attending Digestive Disease Week for the first time, the annual mecca for world gastroenterology. The view from the bus ride from the hotel to the convention center was full of beautiful flowering trees with exuberant spring colors on both sides of the road. However, the best part was yet to come.
